Call To Peru

There is a certain kind of magic that I experience when I am in Peru that is hard to express in words. In the weaving of majestic landscapes, humble people, its’ culture, ancient history and mystical treasures, transports me to a place where I feel like everything vibrates and shines a bit more brightly. A place where I feel like the veil between this world and the spirit world is at it’s thinnest. A place where I feel more vitally alive.

Most people who feel attracted to journey to Peru, receive a strong calling to visit its lands. This calling might not be logical but a strong felt sense. Many a time I have heard people say, “I have to go, I don’t know why, but I just have to” Have you received the call to visit Peru and not sure why? Could it be the energy, mythology and archeology that surrounds this countries sacred land that is calling you? Lets explore together why Peru might be calling you.

An Energy Vortex

Peru holds the second energetic chakra centre of the world — the sacral chakra. Many ancient teachings tell us that there are 7 central points or portals of awakening — Chakras. It is also believed that our physical chakras mirror those of Earth.

The sacral chakra is associated with creativity, creation and emotions. It’s the driving force for the enjoyment of life through the senses, whether it’s auditory, through taste, touch, or sight. Opening your sacral chakra, allows you to feel the world around you and in you. The sacral chakra is the foundation of our feelings and well-being. This chakra is associated with the water element — it’s characterized by movement and flow in our emotions and thoughts. It supports personal expansion and the formation of personal identity through relating to others and to the world.

Hidden Treasures

Archeologically the specific centre of this chakra is located on the Island of the Sun on Lake Titicaca located in the high plateau of Collao in the southern highlands of Peru. These territories were inhabited by the Tiahuanaco culture (100 – 700 AD) prior to the rise of the Inca Empire. In the 1970’s with Jacques Cousteau and then again in 2000, an international archaeological expedition discovered an ancient temple submerged in the depths of Lake Titicaca. The huge structure is nearly twice the size of a soccer field (660 feet long), and was found by following a submerged road that begins near Copacabana, Bolivia. The temple is estimated to be between 1,000 and 1,500 years old!

The Birthing Place

Andean mythology tells us that Lake Titicaca was the creation centre and birthing place of the world. It is said that God Viracocha arose from Lake Titicaca to create the world. He commanded the sun (Inti), moon (Mama Kilya) and stars to rise, and created the first human beings, Mallku Kapac and Mama Ocllo.
