Is the yoga training recognized by the Yoga Alliance?
Yes, we are a RYS 200 and RPYS with the Yoga Alliance. All of our graduates may become Registered Yoga Teachers (RYTs) and/or RPYTs with the Yoga Alliance if taking the Prenatal Program.
Will someone pick me up at the airport?
Airport pick up can be requested through firstname.lastname@example.org. Details about pick up times are provided in your confirmation of enrollment email as well as the Trip Preparation Document sent after the deposit has been made to secure your spot in the course. Do not purchase airfare until your application has been accepted.
IS ACCOMMODATION INCLUDED IN THE TUITION?
Accommodation is not included in the tuition cost of YTT’s and is booked and paid for directly through the retreat centre. Sometimes, accommodation may be included in retreat pricing depending on our agreements with different centres. Please check the specific retreat and program details to be sure.
How many students are enrolled in your programs at one time?
In order to prioritize our high standards for quality, we accept 12-20 students per YTT program. There is a minimum of 3 facilitators per training to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience.
Are there financing options available?
We are aware that committing to a training is an important decision and do our best to accommodate various payment options. Please contact us for information about payment plans and let us know how we can best support you.
Are there any grants or scholarships available?
ASY is committed to making our trainings accessible to individuals and groups of all socio-economic situations. We offer partial scholarships to individuals who work for NGOs, charitable organizations, social workers, school teachers and students. We offer one scholarship or work trade opportunity per program that we offer.
Can I stay at the retreat centre after the program?
Yes, depending on availability. You can make your reservation directly through the retreat centre.
Am I able to teach yoga immediately after completion of the YTT program?
Yes, you will be a certified yoga teacher after completion of the training. Yoga is a lifelong study. Although our programs provide all the tools and practical experience needed to support your teaching development, we recommend to continue attending classes and assisting teachers in your community. It takes time to integrate all that you will learn in our courses. We encourage you to teach, attend and assist classes after completing the course to get the most out of the program.
How much yoga experience is required before I begin a YTT course?
We recommend a minimum of 1 year of regular practice before beginning any YTT program.
What kind of yoga will I be learning?
Awakened Spirit Yoga is a yoga school with an integrative, holistic and contemplative focus. We have deep roots in traditional hatha, vinyasa, therapeutic yoga and social and environmental activism. Our heart-centered approach explores yogic wisdom and mindfulness through all levels of relationship: embodied learning, self-study, environmentalism and meditation. You will learn all aspects of yoga: meditation, asana, pranayama, philosophy, mindfulness and yogic cleansing techniques.
Is there any free time during the YOGA TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMS?
Yes! We have an extended lunch break daily and 1.5 days off per week for study, integration and personal time.
Will I learn variations for people of different age groups, abilities and skill levels?
In our programs you will learn to teach beginner, intermediate and advanced students as well as considerations, styles and modifications suitable for various populations.
How does ASY give back?
We believe in the importance of practicing yoga off the mat. We are committed to giving back to communities and the planet. Building sustainable and beneficial relationships with the communities who host our programs is integrated right into our curriculums. We support community projects in the villages that host us and donate a percentage of profits of our offerings to several NGOs. A scholarship is available to 1 qualifying student per course.
Can I get a refund if I cancel my attendance?
Deposits for all of our courses are non-refundable, but may be transferred to another program occurring within the next calendar year when cancellation notice is given no less than 6 weeks prior to the start date of the original program registered for.
The remaining balance is refundable, less a $150 application fee up until 4 weeks prior to the first day of the course if a student chooses to withdraw application from the program. Once the program begins, no refunds will be granted. A full refund of the tuition will be offered if a workshop, training or retreat is cancelled by it’s facilitators.
